/usr/bin/cook is unable to execute programs,

that are installed with packages from BUILD_DEPENDS.
Hence in many cases package building in a
locally cloned cooking wok is aborted.

Packages from BUILD_DEPENDS are installed
in a filesystem of type aufs in a chroot environment.
These filesystems are mounted in subdirectories of /dev/shm.
/etc/fstab has an entry:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs noexec,nosuid 0 0
so that all files in all filesystems mounted there are not executable.

When "noexec,nosuid" is replaced by "defaults" (as on tank),
package building works properly.
