The solution is to use 'setxkbmap' from the command line:

$ setxkbmap -layout ca

To have your Canadian keyborad automaticaly configured on each session you can
add a call to setxkbmap into your personnal ~/.profile or Openbox autostart 
script located in your HOME directory: ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh
